Hi, how are you doing? Thanks for the interview. First, you may give the people a short introduction of your band.
Sky (guitar, vocals): Hi ! Well I’m fine, I’m preparing myself for a party tonight! To answer you, we like to describe the band's music as 'Shock-Pop', a style ready to be presented as really innovative, strong, rocking and dancing as fuck! Crack ov Dawn's aim is actually pretty clear: always try something new and powerful, never content to be just another band, and break all the rules.

How long have you guys been together, and how did you guys meet?
Sky: Well, Crack ov Dawn was envisioned and brought forth in Paris, in January Millenium+2, and formed by guitarist Sexy Sadie and vocalist Vinnie Valentine, on the ashes of several previous born-to-loose Punk-Rock-Metal projects. They were soon joined up by Britney Beach, who was an old friend. In summer Millenium+3, Vinnie and Britney met Mallaury Murder while being thrown off a Parisian club and recruited him as a bassist. Mallaury find a way to bring with him the drunkard Xander Xanax and I completed the line up quickly, because I well known Britney and Sadie and that we were determined since many years to play in a band together!

The name sounds a little weird, and because you write "ov" in stead of "of" it looks a little weird as well. Why did you choose this name?
Sky: There’s no mysterious way: we find that “ov” sound better than “of”! And after that we realized that we have made a good choice, because crackofdawn.com is a porn site! The choice of Crack Ov Dawn is because the crack of dawn is the first thing that we can see after a night of party – so that’s a reflect of our life! And, again, the really important criterion is that Crack Ov Dawn is a cool band name.

How should you describe your music? And what are your main influences?
Sky: Well, as I said before, we define our music as Shock Pop, and each ov us has different influences. But I would say several different bands like GNR, R+, Manson, Motley or even Sex Pistols.

When I take a closer look at your debut album "Dawn Addict" (the cover art, the booklet, your nicknames and the bandpictures) I see that you are operating under a certain image. How important is image for you, and why did you choose this image?
Sky: We consider that the image is very important for a band. It’s linked to our music, and more than that, to our personality. For us, a great band must have a visual identity, we want offer to our fans something to feed their ears AND their eyes. And this image is an extension of ourselves: I cannot imagine us with Slipknot’s masks or Limp Bizkit appearance! You know, when we are on stage, we don’t want to look like your neighbour – except if your neighbour is Nikky Six!

Can you describe each of the bandmembers in just one word?
Sky: Britney: dandy. Mallaury: unhealthy. Sadie: sexy. Sky: spicy. Vinnie: pervert. Xander: crazy.

Your debut album received some nice reviews of different zines, including ours. What do you think of the album yourself?
Sky: We are very proud of our album, and we really love it! You know, Crack Ov Dawn is for us a band for free creation: we put our brain aside and we play the music that we like at this moment ov our life. That’s why you can find heavy riffs and pop chorus in one song: we don’t put a limit to our songwriting process. So personally I think that Dawn Addict is a kind of OVNI in our scene, and it melts very well our several influences to create a unique style. Dawn Addict just rocks!

Murderdolls' Joey Jordison has released it in the States. How did you get in contact? And what made him decide to do the release overseas?
Sky: In fact our album is not still released in the States, but Joey has planned to do it. Vinnie got contact with him via a common friend, who worked in a great porn magazine, and sent him a Dawn Addict CD. Joey had just really loved our music, and decided to release in its label as soon as he could!

On your MySpace profile, there are a few new rehearsal songs listenable. I think they sound way more mature than the ones on "Dawn Addict". Do you agree with me?
Sky: It’s hard for me to answer, because I’m too much implied to determine if it’s mature or not. But the fact it’s that there is a different feeling on the forthcoming album perhaps more Rock with a big R.

Is there already a release date for the new album?
Sky: It will be probably available in France in March or April 2006, and this album will be as good as Hell! There will be eleven song, some quieter than in the first album, some more aggressive.

What else can we expect from Crack Ov Dawn in the future?
Sky: European Tour, we hope!

Time for a question meant for fun, just because you are from France hehe. Do you prefer French cheese or French wine?
Sky: Both! It’s too hard to make a decision… We drink a lot of different alcohols, from beer to whisky, but wine it’s for me the best with food. And a dinner without cheese is not a real dinner!

Well, the interview ends here. Thanks again for your time. And because I am a real gentleman, the final words are yours.
Sky: Should I understand that you consider me a lady? I’m flattered. So, stay Rock, stay Fashion, come to the Dawn.
