First of all, please
introduce your band to the readers.
Li Ziwei (vocals): Hi, We are a band from Beijing
China called Nuclear Fusion-G. Our band was formed in
2004. And our music style is “electronic-industrial”.
Now we have 5 members, including vocals: Li Ziwei,
guitar: Li Yan, bass: Wang Yu, drums: Dahai, DJ/sampler:
Beibei.
How did things get started for your band? And why did
you choose this bandname?
Li Ziwei: I formed the band, and I am kind of the
leader of it too. I found musicians who were able to
play guitar, bass, drums and DJ/sampler for this band. I
like industrial and electronica so I wanted to make my
own music style, which is a fusion of industrial and
electronica. There are not many rock music styles in
China, and then we are the only band playing
“electronic-industrial” music. We are the “nucleus
synthesis”!
How would you describe your music and why?
Li Ziwei: Our music is filled of feeling of the
future, almost like a sound of science fiction movies.
We use a lot of elements like heavy rhythm, dance music,
electro sound sampling, voice sampling, background sound,
DJ scratching and so on. The concept of our music is “Hi-tech”.
If you like the perfect combination of intense electron,
future technology, space alien voice and metal, our
music is your best choice, and if you are crazy of
science fiction, I think you must love it.
What are your main influences?
Li Ziwei: Various science-fiction movies.
You already released some songs on complations. How
did people reply on those songs so far?
Li Ziwei: Not bad. Many people like our music.
They are interested in such music of new style. They
think it sounds fresh and different from other Chinese
bands, because we came from the outer space, hahaha!
According to your biography, your live performance
must be a killer one. Can you describe what a stranger
could expect when he visits a live show of you?
Li Ziwei: Many people love our show. Some of them
come for our music, some for playing mosh, pogo and some
for dance. Even those who are not interested in rock and
roll will like our music. Our listeners are very various
when it comes to ‘original’ music taste.
What is the most memorable thing you have ever
experienced at a gig of your band?
Li Ziwei: Every performance we’ve put out is
perfect, you know. The most unforgettable one, in our
mind, is the not so perfect one. Maybe in China, we
still lack the circumstances of rock’n’roll.
China is not really known worldwide for it's
industrial scene. Is there any industrial scene in
China?
Li Ziwei: Only us! We think most of Chinese metal
rock is quite typical and a little bit “classical”. At
present there is no industrial rock., no awesome
electronica. We believe that we are the only band in
Asian rock scene.
What can we expect of your band in the near future?
Li Ziwei: Well, we don’t really know... specially
in China. God knows what will happen in the future. It
is not easy to find a suitable label in China. We would
rather find a foreign one if possible. Maybe that will
be more helpful for our development.
