Could you provide us
some basic info about your band?
We are KONG from The Netherlands. We started playing in
1988, and our music can be described as 'metaldanceambientrock'.
Why did you exactly pick this track to appear on the
compilation?
KONG reformed after having been 'asleep' for almost 7
years and recently recorded a couple of new songs. This
song is one of those and gives probably the best
impression of what the 'new KONG' will be like.
How important is and has the internet been for your
band?
When we started, obviously, there was no internet but it
grew a pretty important medium. Right now it's by far
the best way to promote and share our music.
What are the views upon the local music industry in
your native country?
Actually i have no idea about the music industry in the
Netherlands but i guess there's not so much difference
with other countries. Music industry has severe problems
everywhere which for the biggest part they have to thank
themselves for. But also the audience is to blame, i see
no reason why everybody should be allowed to copy or
illegally download all music they can lay hands on
without ever paying the artist in any way.
And what about the rest of the world?
See the preverious question.
How do you see the role of the record labels in the
music industry in about 10 years?
I think if they want to survive record labels should
become much more like a general management, assistent,
advisor for their artists. Which means promoting them,
advising in legal matters, keeping in touch with
touragents, making distribution and/or internet deals.
And yes, also releasing their albums.
What are your opinions on Death To Music Productions?
For us one of the reasons to get rid of any record
company would be the existence of organisations as Death
To Music!
