Could you provide us
some basic info about your band? (name, country, year of
birth, music style, etc)
Onirica is a solo project from Balaguer (Spain) formed
by me (Jordi). I wanted to create some music but the
local musical panorama didn't suit my interests so I
started Onirica some time ago to do whatever I wanted to
do without being in some copycat band. You could
describe the style as ambient electronica with a touch
of black metal atmosphere.
Why did you exactly pick this track to appear on the
compilation?
"The Embrace of Shamballah" is one of the best tracks
from my upcoming EP and I think it sounds quite
industrial (without being metal).
How important is and has the internet been for your
band?
It is the perfect way to reach my potential listeners
(in case they exist!) It is also cheap and quick!
What are the views upon the local music industry in your
native country?
Local music sect more like, they are just a bunch of
similar-sounding rock/metal bands desperately wanting a
record label deal, thus being the antithesis of
creativity, I would never want to be related to this.
And what about the rest of the world?
More or less the same as above but in a global scale, so
go figure.
How do you see the role of the record labels in the
music industry in about 10 years?
Extinct, it's just a question of time for people to
realise that labels are pointless nowadays. The internet
is opening people to new forms of music distribution.
Record labels are singing their swan song, it's the
natural progression so let's move forward then.
What are your opinions on the Industrialized Metal
Webzine and Death To Music Productions?
I didn't know about Industrialized Metal, Im not much
into music press, neither printed nor websites. I heard
about DTM because of Ewigkeit, DTM Productions is a
great way for artists around the world to get what they
are doing out to the public with a total artistic
freedom.
Do you have some final words to add?
I am working on a free EP that will be released
exclusively on Death To Music Productions as a free
download sometime in 2008, so if you like my track then
I recommend you to keep an eye on their website for
updates on said EP.
