Band: TERMINAL
Album: Ab_Worm
Year: 2005
Terminal, born in 1997, says to be influenced by bands
like NIN and Ministry. So, I expected some old school
stuff in vein of NIN and KMFDM. But, my expections were
killed from the first second. Terminal makes some modern
kind of industrial metal, which can be heard on their
latest demo called Ab_Worm.
The fact that Terminal is able to sound non brutal stuff
pretty powerful, is already shown in the first song
called “The One”. Some industrial elements mixed with
guitar riffs who remind me to Rammstein in a way.
Terminal uses clean vocals, and although I prefer the
more alternative vocals, I must admit that this fits
very well to the music. “The One” is a powerful, easy
listening song, with a surprising end (I didn’t really
expect to hear the guitar solo there). Four minutes and
one second later, the second song of the demo starts.
“Stay” starts with some destortion, but it will not last
that long. Some cold industrial metal has been provided
over here, with some kind of hardcore sounding chorus.
This is maybe the most industrial song of the demo. And,
powerful again, like the next song on the demo, which is
called “MeMeMe”. This song could be a song by Finish Me
Off: it has the same style as this band provides. I
described it before as industrial nu metal, so you can
almost imagine what it sounds like. The demo ends with
“Ab-Worm”, an instrumental hidden track. This track
doesnt give me much stuff to review, but it sounds like
a nice outro. Well, what else should I have to say about
this demo? It has surprised me in positive and less
positive ways (I didn’t really like the “MeMeMe”-song),
but it has lots of variation and inspiration. Try this
band out.
