Artist: LAHO
Album: The Other Side
Year: 2007

Laho is a one man industrial/electro metal project from Finland. This project was formed in 2006 by Konsta Vehkala, and 2007 brought us already the release of the second demo 'The Other Side'. It consists of seven tracks, all recorded and mixed in his home studio.

After the intro called 'Superangst', which has touches of ambient and electro metal, the release got its "real" kickoff with 'Rebirth'. It consists of spastic sampling, bashing programming works and strong distorted guitars. The well-added keylines give the track an electronic attitude. 'Surrealism' kicks off with harsh industrial works. What follows is an accessable industrial metal track that gets more brutal and mature at the end. 'Failed' is an easy going track with atmospheric keylines and wicked industrial work. Next up we have the title track of this EP, split in two parts. Part one is a dark ambient track, which is a good intro for part two - an original electro metal track with harsh old school sampling and a great outro. 'Wrong' is the final track of the release. In my opinion this is the best track of the release. It's an uptempo track with excellent keylines, strong guitars and powerful programming, which gives it a modern and danceable attitude.

Laho offers you stuff you wont hear every day. Each song sounds like a different kind of experiment, which makes it possible that different tracks appeal to different people. The curious ones among you should really give this one man project a shot - the EP is downloadable on their official site: http://beam.to/laho. And if you wonder why I didn't mention anything about the vocals - there aren't any!
