Artist: DIGIMORTAL
Album: Strashneye Menya
Year: 2008

Digimortal from Russia has caught my attention immidiately after their various websingles they released a few years ago. Their brutal approach of industrial (cyber) metal had a smashing effect on my brains, and thus I kept a closer eye on them. Their debut album, all in Russian, recieved an excellent rating by me, and by many others. Their second album is on it's way, and as a teaser we have here the release of their first websingle named 'Strashneye Menya' - which can be downloaded for free over here: http://giveout.ru/digimortal/

The websingle kicks off with the title track - 'Strashneye Menya'. It opens with a heartbeat, to be followed by very strong and heavy guitarwork and powerful drumming. It has cold and atmospheric keylines, wicked FX works and recogniseable vocal lines. The chorus is one to sing-a-long with if you know Russian, and still catchy if you don't (like me). Next up comes a Prodigy cover: 'Breathe'. It's a powerful and short (2 minutes and 15 seconds) track, with the recogniseable sampling and outstanding vocal works. The guitars are heavy, and the programming fits the metal attitude of this cover very well. Next up we have English versions of 'Belka & Strelka', which was one of my favourite songs of their debut album, and 'M.A.S.H.I.N.A'. Musically there are no differences, and the English lyrics might sound a bit strange in the beginning if you are used to the Russian versions. However, for the people who don't know the Russian versions, these English ones are an accessable start.

After this web release, all I can say is - I am more than ready for the new CD!
